For over 60 years, celduc® transfo has built a strong legacy in transformer manufacturing. Starting with multiple sites in Grenoble and Sorbiers, French founder Michel Guichard gradually centralized key operations—winding, cores, mechanical parts, painting and assembly—at the Sorbiers facility. As industry and geopolitics shifted, the company expanded its capabilities and diversified its production to serve global needs.

In the early 1990s, facing market challenges, celduc® transfo strategically split from the group to focus on customization and high-spec manufacturing. Under new leadership from 1997, the company turned towards bespoke transformers for complex applications—moving away from mass production into precision engineering. Projects included marine propulsion units for tankers and cruise ships, and heavy-duty industrial systems.

Rooted in the values of its mining-town origins—solidarity and craftsmanship—celduc® transfo is committed to continuous improvement. As a trusted expert in transformer technology, our overriding aim is to get better every day: in quality, innovation, responsiveness, and service.

With nearly 200 full-time employees across 4 countries on 3 continents, the groupe celduc® — including celduc® transfo and celduc® relais — is a leading player in industrial automation, magnetic proximity sensors, and power transformers, recognized in nearly 60 countries worldwide.
